Minor Consent Laws
Indiana Age Of Consent Law: Defined in Indiana Code 35-42-4-9, age of consent is 16 years old. IC 35-42-4-9 Sexual misconduct with a minor Sec. 9. (a) A person at least eighteen (18) years of age who, with a child at least fourteen (14) years of age but less than sixteen (16) years of age, performs or submits to sexual intercourse or deviate sexual conduct commits sexual misconduct with a minor, a Class C felony.Mandatory Reporting Laws
Any person with reasonable suspicion that a child is a victim of child abuse, neglect, or maltreatment must make a report to the Department of Child Services. All reports can be made to the Indiana Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline 1-800-800-5556. Anonymous reports are accepted, however, by law DCS is required to protect the identity and privacy of the individual making the report. Failure to make a report is punishable by law and can result in a Class B misdemeanor.Applicable Indiana Codes:
